Tahamzam, May 15 (MExN): The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has denounced the murder of a Naga woman at Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai on May 5. “Crime against women is on the rise in a place that was once considered safe for women. Such heinous act is no longer exception but becoming more and more frequent,” stated the NWU, Manipur, in a condemnation note today. The NWU also called upon the agencies concerned to deliver justice at the earliest possible. “The culprits should be awarded befitting punishment according to the law of the land as preventive measure for the future,” the Union asserted. Meanwhile, it also expressed sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased person’s family and friends, praying for God’s grace to “carry them through this painful journey.”
