Nyemlang-led NSCN (K) declines NNPGs offer

Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): The Nyemlang-led NSCN (K) has turned down the offer of the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs) to join the Indo-Naga peace talks “as an equal partner.” A press statement from the MIP stated that due to the differences in objectives, the Nyemlang-led NSCN (K) “cannot come to the negotiating table.” It acknowledged that “in different ways, we are all working for the upliftment of Nagas,” but added that “the objectives that NSCN/GPRN and NNPGs have chosen for the emancipation of Nagas are divergent.” It further added that the Nyemlang-led NSCN (K) “stands for all Naga inhabited areas in defence of our sovereign political rights.” While clarifying that it does not doubt the NNPGs’ sincerity, the splinter group of the NSCN (K) said that it ‘humbly’ declines the offer,” and expressed hope that NNPGs would respect its decision.
