NYF calls upon Nagas to defend people’s rights

Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): The Naga Youth Front (NYF) has called upon Naga students, youth, women, employees, church workers, businessmen, villages and towns to get ready to defend the rights of people.

“We salute the Naga Women spirit for peace and solution. We call upon all Naga in Naga homeland and abroad to join in this noble cause. There is time for everything and therefore it is time to secure dignity and freedom,” it stated in a press note issued by M.Dosopuwa, Investigation & Publicity.

NYF on behalf of Naga people have accepted the challenges once again the war waged and spearheaded by Communal state Government of Manipur., it added.

The NYF stated that after Mao-gate incident, Khumji became a soft target and now it is Ukhrul. Stating that the “peaceful Ukhrul town was attacked”  by “indiscriminate firing with AK47, INSAS/SLR and teargas creating war like situation by the commando and IRB of the communal Government of Manipur upon the Naga civilians”  on the fateful night of June 2, 2010.

Narrating the incident, it stated that when the whole of Ukhrul town and its surrounding villages were “calm and peaceful during the 72 hours Bandh called by the Naga people against the imposition of District Council Election, the drunken wild Communal forces Commandos and Manipur IRB assaulted the peaceful Bandh enforcing volunteers without any provocation. Hearing the news of assault on their children the women came out with torches which were responded with indiscriminate firing” and in the process five women four men were critically injured and many other women were injured.

“The pre-planned attempt to create war like situation by using Naga people as shooting practice target is the sole agenda of this communal government of Manipur. The blood thirsty intention inflicting upon the Naga people is condemned. Let the whole world know that the communal Government of Manipur headed by Ibobi Singh have systematically declared war on Naga people. Ugly instances as such to impose their agenda of militarization against democratic norms and principles fourteen state govt. employees assigned for ADC election duties at Katang, Maguilong, Kadi 1, Kadi 2, Kuilong, Nalong and Lemta under Tamenglong District were compelled to put on Assam Rifles uniforms and set off for poll duties but had to retreat from Sonram due to road blockade by the Naga people,” the NYF retorted in the press note.

It affirmed that the systematic aggression with all the available resources and means upon the people and land will be defended. “Chakho and Loshou as martyrs had laid down their lives for our better tomorrow will not go in-vain. As declared ‘no rest till Naga live together under one political roof”, “no rest till alternative arrangement” and “we are for negotiated solution”. We will wage peace like a war.”
