Several youth club representatives from all seven RD blocks under Kohima district today converged here as Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kohima organized District Youth Convention at LCS Building.
Kohima deputy commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan (IAS) graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Addressing the convention, Soundararajan explained the demographic dividends and stated that, where there is vast number of unemployment, there will be negative demographic dividend in the community.
He asked the youth club leaders to proactively channelize youth energy to positive direction and prevent from negative practices such as drug addicts, alcoholism.
He also stressed on the need to take up skill development and entrepreneurship venture.
The deputy commissioner also encouraged the youths to establish a concrete Model Youth Club so as to move forward in all aspects. Also exhorting the gathering, Jackie Ruivah, state director NYKS Nagaland encouraged the youths to take up skill development and stay connect with NYKS and the government to avail various facilities and opportunities.
81 youth from 45 youth clubs including Angami Youth Organisation, Angami Sports Association, Fountain Club (State Level Youth Club Awardees) turned up at the convention.
Earlier, Ruokuovikho Chale delivered keynote address. The function was chaired by Visieno Yakhro while vote of thanks was proposed by Khrieketou Kere.
