Dimapur, October 8 (MExN): Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP), Rangapahar celebrated Wildlife Week on October 7 in the zoo premises with the theme, ‘Listening to the Young Voices’. The day long programme started with free entry for all visitors to the zoo.
Visitors were provided refreshments and sensitized about wildlife conservation by the officers and staff of the zoo through wildlife talks and interactions. They were also encouraged to share their views on conservation.
A press release from Obed Bohovi Swu, (ACF) Officer-in-Charge, NZP, stated that many visitors appreciated the initiative of the zoo management to connect directly with the visitors and encouraged the staff to keep up their efforts in conserving the wildlife wealth.
To mark the Wildlife Week 2017, special printed mugs with wildlife photos were distributed to the visitors. Photos of wildlife in the zoo for photo frames were also printed and gifted to students and children. Wildlife quiz for the staff was also conducted.
The celebration culminated with a closing programme in the afternoon attended by all the staff of the zoo. The Director, Sentichuba Aier conveyed his appreciation to the staff for their dedication and sincerity in taking care of the captive wildlife of the zoo. Special gifts were distributed to all the participants in the programme.
As a token of gratitude for their services in the zoo, all Animal Section staff comprising Animal Attendants, Cooks, Grass Cutters and Store Keeper were presented with gifts. Thiru, Zoo Biologist was also felicitated by the Director for his constant dedication and sincere services in the zoo.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by the Officer in Charge of Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar.
