Odd-even traffic rule in Khm for G-20 business meet

Parking and traffic restrictions in parts of Dimapur & Chümou

DIMAPUR, MARCH 31 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas IAS has issued a notification informing that odd-even scheme under section 115 of the Motor Vehicle Act for all commercial vehicles (two & four-wheeler taxis, pick-ups/Tata Mobile, Buses) shall be enforced in Kohima town on April 4 and 5 from 6:00 am till 9:00 pm. 

This decision was taken in preparation for the upcoming G-20 Summit and in the interest of public convenience and as per the decision taken during the Regional Transport Authority meeting on March 31.

The notice informed that concerned vehicles with registration numbers ending with an odd digit (1,3,5,7,9) will be allowed to ply on April 4; while those with registration numbers ending with an even digit (2,4,6,8,0) will be allowed to ply on April 5. 

It further cautioned that violators shall be penalized under section 179 of the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019.

Meanwhile, the Dimapur Police Commissioner also issued a notification informing that in view of the G-20 business meet, on April 4, movement of vehicles shall be restricted and no vehicles shall be allowed to be parked from 3rd Mile junction towards Kohima side till Patkai Bridge with effect from 12:00 noon till 3:00 pm. 

Further, on April 6, movement of vehicles shall be restricted and no vehicles shall be allowed to be parked from Patkai Bridge towards Dimapur till 3rd Mile junction with effect from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. 

The Dimapur Police also advised all shopkeepers and the public in general are advised not to park their vehicles along the mentioned routes during the restricted timings to avoid any inconveniences.
