Kohima, May 6 (MExN): A joint site visit for review of the ongoing work of Prefab Multipurpose Hall at Kezo Town was undertaken between the officials of Youth Resources & Sports Department and Kezoma Urban Station Committee. 

The visiting team was led by Director Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS and accompanied by Joint Director Teisobu Sekhose, DSO Kohima Zhopovi Zecho, Executive Engineer Swedi Kiso, Junior Engineer Denben Yanthan. The Kezoma Urban Station was represented by Chairman Mhasivi Naki and accompanied by Vice Chairman Zadekhweto, and Chairman, Kezoma Village Council, Kikrosa Naki.

A press release issued by Mhasivi Naki, chairman, Kezoma Urban Station Committee said the Department stated that such a prefab multipurpose hall is being implemented all over the state owing to its low cost, high quality control and reduction in construction time. The stadium can accommodate all disciplines of indoor sports for both training and tournament format besides having the flexibility of being used for public gatherings and functions. 

Till date, the State Government has already inaugurated 5 (five) stadiums and more stadiums are planned for inauguration this year.

The team found that work was progressing well with the RCC foundation and pedestal column works actively underway whilst at the same time the steel superstructure was being fabricated at the factory. Once the RCC components are casted and cured, the superstructure components will have arrived on site and bolted securely which is done in a few days. The work is expected to be completed within this year.

The Kezoma Urban Station has requested the Department to construct retaining wall and compound concreting for better usage of the upcoming facilities and to which the Department has assured to propose to the Government.

It maybe mentioned that CM Neiphiu Rio, during the inaugural programme of Kezoma Urban Station on October 28, 2022, with a vision to uplift the newly formed Kezoma Urban Station which has four villages under its jurisdiction viz Kezoma, Kezo Basa, Kezo Town and Sakhabama, had announced the sanction of a multipurpose hall which can be utilised for public gatherings and functions and at the same time use it as an indoor sports stadium. 

The Kezoma Urban Station appreciated the CM for his leadership and assured full support to ensure that the objective of the multipurpose hall is fulfilled. They also thanked the land donor Kikrosa Naki, Chairman, Kezoma Village Council for donating his land and ensuring that the vision can be fulfilled.
