Kohima, July 15 (DIPR): The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting on July 15 discussed the recent oil spillage in paddy fields under Jotsoma village. The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor asked the agriculture department whether some technical guidance can be given to the farmers in order to deal with the problem, to which, the District Agriculture Officer, Vizonyü Liezie informed that three agriculture officers along with staffs have been engaged to take further necessary measures. Some members also suggested having soil analysis at Medziphema before any plantation takes place again in the affected fields.
Reviewing the last meeting minutes, the DC asked the committee of the tree plantation drive to apprise him on the strategies for clearing the grass and proper fencing of the tree planted and also reminded the members to deposit their due contribution to the committee. On the status of the yearlong activities, the Adoption Committees highlighted their activities carried out so far and also their action plan of their respective adopted villages and wards. The DC reminded the committees to expedite their activities within the stipulated time.
Regarding Nagaland Vision 2030, Rovilatuo informed the departments which have not submitted their district vision statement to submit the same so the committee can draft for onward submission to the Government.
On the projection of Village Adoption to the Government, SDO (Sadar), Kethosituo Sekhose informed that the committee has decided to bring out a booklet containing what the Adoption Committee is, works initiated by various departments, the hurdles and benefits involved in the committee and the achievements of the Adoption Committee during the last two years which will be presented to the board for inclusive report to the Government. In this connection, the DC expressed optimism that by reflecting the good practice benefiting adopted villages and the DPDB members, the government may take keen interest to introduce it to other DPDBs across the State.
The Deputy Commissioner also apprised the members on the District Coordination Committee where all the developmental departments and bank institutions are members and impressed upon the members to attend the meetings. Pointing out that the banks are here to assist the people wherever the government resources cannot reach, he requested all the developmental departments like Agri and Allied departments to identify the potential areas and assist the farmers when the banks can provide financial assistance.
ADC Planning, Ketoho Luho also raised some issues of concern regarding horse meat available in the town and parking problem for DPDB members on the meeting day. The members also shared their problems in view of parking and the meeting timing, to which, the DC assured to take up the matter with the DPDB Chairman. Ketoho also apprised the house on the proposal for up-gradation and renovation of DPDB conference hall with better facilities.
K. Michael Pienyü, Scientist, Krishi Vigya Kendra (KVK), Kohima gave a PowerPoint presentation, where he highlighted the various activities undertaken by KVK and also its action plan for 2015-2016. The meeting held at DPDB conference hall also decided to entrust the sub- committee on the projection of Village Adoption to give their presentation in the next DPDB meeting.
