Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Public Relations, Imtikumzuk today inaugurated the ‘Okbu Lu Lemang’ (agri-link road) at Ungma Village here today in the presence of Ungma Village Council members, district administration and NPF party members.
Right after the unveiling of the plaque at the Okbu Lu Lemang, a formal programme was held at Jentisang Resort where a grand programme was organized by the Kosasanger Pusu Menden Ungma Impang (Village Council, Ungma Yimpang).
Speaking at the formal programme, the Parliamentary Secretary, Imtikumzuk expressed deep happiness at the successful completion of the agri-link road in the village. While underscoring the importance of roads in a modern society, Imtikumzuk said that roads are the lifelines for the development of the society. He said that the newly inaugurated ‘Okbu Lu Lemang’ links to Mokokchung town which would enable the villagers to take their agricultural crops to the markets in Mokokchung within five minutes. He also pointed out unlike the days of the forefathers; the present generation should employ their intellect and exploit the available infrastructure like roads and easy market to enhance their economic lives. Besides, he also said that Ungma village is blessed unlike other far-flung villages; he therefore encouraged the Ungma villagers to take the blessings of being near Mokokchung town headquarters and be a model village for others to emulate.
Also while encouraging the people to go for scientific farming; Imtikumzuk suggested the people to go for cultivation of cash crops so that the practice of jhum cultivation can be lessened which will in turn help in controlling climate change and global warming.
Furthermore, he said that the present DAN Government under Dr Shurhozelie Liezeitsu has much concern for the youths and for peace and unity of the Naga society so that a lasting solution to the Naga political issue can be arrived at. He said that Chief Minister, Dr Shurhozelie is one of the most respected and veteran politicians in Nagaland and under his leadership, the present DAN government is trying its best to take the Naga people towards peace and prosperity.
Meanwhile, Tatars (council executive members) – R Nungshilepden Jamir and Yimkum Pongener - welcomed the audience. The ‘Kosasanger Yimsusur Impang’ also presented a traditional song while the wives of the Kosasanger Yimsusur Kinungtsur-Impang (wives of village council members) presented a tribute song.
The programme was chaired by C Tiameren Longkumer while the Ungma Baptist Church Associate pastor invoked god’s blessings.
