A book titled ‘Okhen Motsü-2’ a collection of 100 stories behind the writing of some of the popular hymns in the Lotha Churches hymn book authored by Mhonyamo Yanthan was dedicated and launched at Fernbrook School, Wokha on February 3.

Mhao Kikon, Pastor Tsungiki Baptist Church dedicated and launched the book. In his speech, the Pastor stressed the importance of knowing the story of the hymns in the Lotha hymnals. He maintained that this was the need of the hour and wished that people will get a copy and read through and so receive the blessings of God.

The book ‘Okhen Motsü-2’ provides intriguing insights into the background of well-known Church hymnals.

Addressing the gathering, the author Mhonyamo Yanthan stated the book aims to retell the stories of how the hymns were written and how it speaks to us today. Many a times, we sing the hymns without knowing the actual context in which the hymns were inspired and written and thus our singing becomes shallow and less significance.

Mhonyamo Yanthan maintained that the book is a result of him associating with Church choirs where he discovered that the singing could have improved if only the singers understood the story behind the writing of the hymns.

With this launching of the book, he hopes that the readers will not just read and sing but will have an indepth understanding of the hymns as they sing. This book will be a help for personal devotions, Church and lay leaders as well.

The programme was chaired by Kiluma Kikon, invocation by Nzanbemo Ezung, special song by Konthunglo Ngullie and benediction by Zuthungo Ngullie.
