Old Ministers' Hill Panchayat reiterates notification

Kohima, June 13 (MExN): The office of Old Ministers' Hill Panchayat (OMHP) Kohima has directed owners and consumers of PHE or private water pipes in the colony remove all water pipes that are currently obstructing the drains or culverts within 30 days from June 13.

It further asked the residents to take necessary measures to ensure that the drains are free from any obstacles that may impede the smooth passage of rainwater and drain water.

“Cooperate with the Panchayat authority and actively participate in maintaining a healthy and clean environment for all residents,” stated a press release from the OMHP Chairman, Kesa Sekhose and General Secretary, Vesato Theluo.

Failure to adhere to the notification order would result in the Panchayat taking necessary action after the due date, which may include removing or cutting off the obstructing pipes from the specified location, it added.

As per the release, the Panchayat had earlier issued similar notification on February 22, 2022 but it was observed that the pipes continue to hinder the proper functioning of the drainage system, posing a significant health hazard to the residents.

‘With the monsoon season upon us, it is crucial to take swift action in clearing the drains and ensuring the unobstructed flow of rainwater and drain water,’ it stated, reiterating the need to  address the issue immediately.

The Panchayat further emphasised the importance of safeguarding the well-being of the community and urged all residents/neighbour's colonies to play an active role in maintaining a hygienic and safe living environment.

For further information or clarification, it further informed the residents to contact OMHP members or its office.
