Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): In welcoming the formation of the Common Naga Platform, the Overseas Naga Association today reaffirmed the platform’s primary role be a facilitator. In a note today, the association assured to work with the platform and its constituent bodies as well.
“We hold firmly to the Naga Consultative Meet resolution-two, that the common platform be ‘independent and truly inclusive of all Nagas’ and that its primary role be as a facilitator (with the Forum for Naga Reconciliation) for unity among the Naga national workers and a precursor to ‘negotiating with one Naga voice with India’.”
Appreciating the leaders and groups whose efforts led to the Naga Consultative Meet and the formation of the Common Naga Platform, the association invited all sections of the Naga society and “our friends and well-wishers in India and around the world” to support and “advance the platform’s work.” The association expressed happiness ‘to be part of this movement for unity because we consider peace in the homeland a shared responsibility of the present generation of Nagas everywhere.’ Along with organizations such as the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, the Naga Christian Forum, and the Naga Hoho and the Eastern Naga People’s Organization, the Overseas Naga Association said, it looks forward to a just and peaceful resolution of the Indo-Naga issue.
“We hope the platform will build on the Naga unity seen at the Naga Consultative Meet and will extend it further as it takes on this historic peace journey,” it said.
