Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) has informed that S. Kumcho Yimchungrü, a citizen of Sotokur village in Tuensang district, was abducted between New Helipong (Helipong junction) and Sotokur villages while on his way to Tuensang Town on April 11. His motor bike and helmet were seen pushed off below the road, stated a press release issued by YTC General Secretary L. Chuba and Vice President Throngso.
Despite the intensive search operation initiated by the villagers continuously for three days, the victim could not be traced out, the YTC release said. “The footprints/foot tracts, dining places, spilling of blood and so forth apparently indicates the direction where the culprits with the victim must have been gone.”
Stating that the incident occurred at the peak of a time while the State Government, YTC, CKS and ENPO are vigorously endeavoring for a peaceful and congenial atmosphere healthy for all, YTC expressed regret to observe that “handful of people seems to be taking adverse advantage over the lenient transactions and by wrongly and foolishly considering the positive gestures as an opportune time, thereby sowing the seeds of hatred and discord solely designed to create a major law and order situation in and around the district.”
The YTC has appealed to the competent authority for more reinforcement of security personnel so as to enable intensifying the search operation and to arrest the suspected persons for necessary interrogation. It also appealed to the competent authority to immediately rescue the victim so as to ensure and maintain utmost trust and confidence among “ourselves” and in the interest of public peace and tranquility.
YAA condemns “abduction”
Meanwhile, Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) has condemned the “abduction” of S Kumcho. In a press release issued by its General Secretary, Akhang, YAA said it has contacted the victim’s family and villagers for detailed information of the incident. According to YAA, it was disclosed that Kumcho was abducted at Helipong Junction while on his way to Tuensang Town on his bike. The YAA has appealed to the respective tribal Hohos, village councils and individuals to restrain and shun from such “illegal activities” since Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation has declared the entire eastern jurisdiction as peace zone. Further, YAA urged the law enforcing authority to immediately intensify the search operation to trace the “abducted person” and book the person(s) involved.
