
KOHIMA, JUNE 27 (MExN): In a significant breakthrough, Kohima Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a series of vehicle thefts reported across the state capital in recent weeks.
According to a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police, Kohima, the arrest was made following a concerted operation based on multiple complaints of stolen vehicles from different locations in the town.
Police teams, acting on critical leads obtained through extensive scrutiny of CCTV footage and with active support from members of the local community, were able to identify and track down the suspect.
The accused, identified as Biose Jingru (25) was apprehended on June 24 from the Tinpatti area in Kohima, the statement said.
Jingru is currently in police custody, and a regular case has been registered. During preliminary interrogation, he reportedly confessed to disposing of the stolen vehicles in Senapati district of neighbouring Manipur.
Based on the information provided by the accused, the police have so far recovered one stolen motorcycle. Efforts are underway to trace and retrieve additional stolen vehicles, police said.
