One arrested for misappropriating 4 lane project materials

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 2 (MExN): One person working with the NH-29 four lane construction authority has been arrested on charges of misappropriating construction materials meant for the project.  

Kohima Police, in a press note today, informed that a written complaint was received on May 31 from the construction authority alleging that one Kovvuru Nagaraju, an accountant cum engineer under the four lane construction project, had misappropriated construction materials (meant for construction of culverts) to the tune of Rs 25 lakhs and had absconded thereafter.  

Subsequently a case was registered at Sechü (Zubza) Police Station, Kohima and investigation was taken up. In course of investigation, Kohima Police said that assistance was sought from the local police of Guduru Rural Police Station, Andhra Pradesh, as the “native village” of the accused person falls under the jurisdiction of the said police station and also engaged sources to ascertain his whereabouts. While the particular village was kept under surveillance, input was received from sources that the accused was on a visit to his village to attend the celebration of a festival.  

After receiving the input, a three member team of Kohima Police left for Andhra Pradesh and on September 28, with the assistance of local police from Guduru Rural PS, apprehended the accused.  

Kohime Police said that he has been brought back to Kohima for further investigation of the case.
