One day at the Orphanage

Vishii Rita Krocha

A New Year had just begun. The sun was up and gloriously shinning. Everything looked good and nice although the world outside was busy and people were wrapping up holidays, still smitten by the season of charm so evident on their faces. I was going down the winding roads and feeling a little excited at the thought of visiting an orphanage. And there, when my feet touched the plains of Dimapur and I reached Noah's Ark, things began to feel even nicer. It must be the home I just got to. I will never forget the warm entrance of that humble abode where dreams of those little children are slowly taking seed. They heartily sang songs that warm the heart; you just can't easily forget their voices coming together in choruses. Just the sight of them around you sweeps waves of feelings over you. The smiles so gently placed on their innocent faces makes you wonder how life could be so unfair for these kids who haven't done anything wrong. It even makes you think what could be it that you have done to deserve some things that they don't have- something like a home and a family.

Yet, the vision of Mrs.Asenliu Newmai made a big difference in their lives and I'm sure it has made their very existence more complete, for they have, in a way found a home to call their own. It's such a beautiful thing to see the kindness and love that flows from a mother to raise the less privileged. Braving all the difficulties that came along with it, she made a home for the little ones who never knew their parents nor had a home, who had no family and is giving them the comfort and the joy of belonging somewhere.

It was so heart rending to see the kids basking in the glory of the day's sunshine, and smiling still. Even playing around a little and being happy in the place they are in. I can't really imagine how children below seven can manage without their parents being there for them. The fact that there was even this three year old child at the orphanage really made me want to choke. Like there was no care in the world, they survived the day in good spirits. Happy and contended, like they have all they want. I was taken by the fact that these kids live extraordinary lives. I don't think many of us grew up like them. It's like we are in different worlds, doing things of our own and living our own lives. But these little ones probably have stories we will never know. We might not know how sad their little beginnings are. But thank God, they have a place to rest their little heads and find love, a family that's big and happy at Noah's Ark though of course I don't think raising so many of them would be an easy task.

Sometimes we could give a little thought about them. I'm sure we are fortunate enough to spend all we want once in a while. Why not sacrifice a little comfort even when we want some material comfort too badly and save them for these kids who are living on the edge? Why not share a little for those who need more than we do? It might be little, but what we give out of love will surely bless some people's lives. Someday, our acts of sacrificing love might just change someone's life.

To me, the day was a beautiful one! It was a pleasure and an honour to be there at Noah's Ark as a member of Kuknalim, gifting them gifts so handsomely wrapped by Kuknalim.com and handing over the donation for their building fund. If it weren't for Kuknalim.com, I wouldn't have been there to witness one of the most memorable day in my life. It's such a blessing to be a part of the site where good things never end. I would have to say, even after the day was done and the sun had gone to shine for another part of the world, the ride home was so beautiful that I'm going to keep it safe for years to come. As a matter of fact, it was the moments I gathered that day that made even the fall of the day a glorious one. The presence of those little ones still remain very much alive in my mind and I have the feeling we can surely make a difference to their lives by showing some little acts of kindness.

Below is a little about the Noah's Ark Ministry:
