A road mishap at the Dimapur-Kohima 4-lane, NH 29, on February 1 claimed one live. According to the traffic police, the tragic mishap happened sometime around 4:30-5:00 pm at the New Chümoukedima stretch of the 4-lane highway when two trucks collided head on.
One of the truck drivers died on the spot while the other survived unharmed. The police were in the process of ascertaining the details of the deceased driver, whose mortal remains taken to the Dimapur District Hospital. The ownership of the ill-fated truck, assumed to be a timber hauler, remained unclear.
The other driver, whose truck hauls construction material, was taken into “safe custody” of the police.
There were no other occupants in each of the truck, police said.
