One POPSK functional in Silchar; 13 more to be added in NE

Guwahati, June 20 (MExN): 13 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) will be set up in the North East states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. The places identified are Changlang, Tirap, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Mangaldoi, North Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, Baghmara, and Tura.   Meanwhile, a POPSK is already functioning in Silchar, Assam. It is one of the 52 POPSKs made functional across the country.  The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Department of Posts (DOP) are utilizing the Head Post Offices (HPO)/Post Offices in the country as POPSK for delivery of passport related services; 86 POPSKs have been announced in the first phase.   A press release from Regional Passport Officer, Guwahati informed that following the successful functioning of the POPSKs, MEA and DOP have decided to open another 149 POPSKs, including the 13 in the three states of North East.
