Dimapur, October 22 (MExN): The Special Judge, Fast Track Special Court Dimapur, V Nyekha has convicted and sentenced one person to 15 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping his neighbor's minor girl child. The accused was convicted under Section 4 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act 2012. In an order dated October 22, 2021, the Special Judge sentenced one Fulbabu Ray to undergo RI of 15 years and a fine of Rs 30,000, in default of which, the convict is to undergo 1 year RI for raping his neighbor's minor girl child who was 12 years old at the time of commission of the offence.
Further, a compensation of Rs 3,00,000 is to be given to the victim under the Victim Compensation Funds/ Schemes. The case was registered in Dimapur Women PS as case No. 065/2017 and was investigated by SI Yantsula while the case was presented by lmlimongla, Special Public Prosecutor. While pronouncing the judgment and order, the Special Judge observed and stated that the rapist “not only violated the victim child's personal integrity but degraded the very soul of the helpless child.” Stating that the innocent child was subjected to such barbaric treatment by the accused, the Special Judge observed that the accused “therefore does not deserve a place in a civilized society.”
