‘Online registration of Births & Deaths’ application launched in Nagaland

The Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland on Tuesday launched an application for ‘Online Registration of Births and Deaths’ in Nagaland.

It was formally launched by Neidilhou Angami, Director of Economics & Statistics at the Directorate conference Hall. 
Addressing at the launching programme, Neidilhou said the main objectives of the software is to facilitate and to streamline the citizen service delivery system. He said that the system has two purposes—online facilities enabling the public to apply and obtain the births and deaths certificates and also a system that provide facilities to manage and record data. 

The Director said that the department will be activating two Registrars—the Directorate of Economics and Statistics Office Registrar and the Districts Economics and Statistics Office Kohima Registrar—for online registration of births and deaths. In the coming days, the department will take up the facility to all the districts offices in a phase-wise manner and make an effort ensure that the same is made available in all the 1,465 registrars in the rural areas of Nagaland.

Although the registration of Births and Deaths has been implemented through the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 and the Nagaland Registration of Deaths and Births Amendment Rules 1999, the Director said that the office of the Registrars General of India has come out with this software to enable the people to obtain births and deaths certificates, to keep up with the IT revolution and also on public demand.

He maintained that through the launching of this software application, the public would have a convenient way to obtain births and deaths certificates. He also congratulated the officers and staff of the department and thanked the Census Department for their encouragement towards the department to have a direct link with the Ministry.

The programme was chaired by Additional Director Neisatuo Puro.

The public can now log in to https://crsorgi.gov.in to access the portal.
