Operation Clean Wokha 2016

Wokha, November 22 (MExN): Operation Clean Wokha under the mega project Love Earth Love Life initiated by Team Metamorphosis is coming to a close for the current year 2016, informed Thungdemo Kyong, president, Team Metamorphosis, Wokha in a press release.  

The program was launched on April 25 on the occasion of World Malaria Day. Prior to its launching, Team Metamorphosis with the Wokha district administration conducted a meeting with the implementing partners, namely the Wokha district administration, Wokha Town Council, Education Department (SDEO), Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Youth Hoho, Wokha District Chamber of Commerce & Industries, ANPSA Wokha unit, NVBDCP Wokha, Power Department, Wokha, and Public Health Engineering Department, Wokha.

  “It is a community focused and community based program which will benefit the public once the people understand and implements it,” the Team Metamorphosis president stated. Activities of the program include keeping the surroundings and streets of the colonies and educational institutions clean, effective usage of electrical energy by checking electricity thefts and unnecessary usage of electricity during daytime, planting of trees, maintaining tranquility and cohesive environment in the colonies, the release said. The program also plans to harvest the rain water at Mt. Tiyi by locating the catchment area through the help of competent agencies or departments in the coming year.  

The program is targeted to be implemented in Wokha Town only (for the time being) through an annual competition among the institutions and colonies and carries total prize money of Rs. 51,000 besides a running trophy and citations. “Once the people flow with the vision understanding its value and harvesting its benefit, it can be expanded to other places as well,” it was stated.  

The awards for the three best performers in each category will be given to the deserving groups in the month of December every year.
