
Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): Operation Salvage celebrated its 19th Foundation day with a message that “it is still going strong to save the life of many who are lost in the wretched world of drugs and alcohol.”
Informing this in a press release on Wednesday, the NSCN (IM) MIP stated that Operation Salvage was started by the NSCN (IM) 19 years ago in Haningkunglwa in Peren district, in 2003, as part of the project that focus on humanity and contributing its role in making the world free from the bondage of drugs and alcohol.
The occasion was celebrated with the presence of representatives from NMA, NSF, ZBCC, WSBAK and NSCN dignitaries led by Rev Puni, member, Collective Leadership, NSCN, who took over as chief guest due to indisposition of Yaruiwo Q Tuccu, the release stated. Meaningful testimonies were shared by former inmates who recovered from the rehabilitation centre to join the society leaving the past behind, while words of support and encouragement were also shared from NMA, NSF, ZBCC and WSBAK, it said.
“Life without testimony has not meaning,” the release stated, quoting Rev Puni. He elaborated using his own testimony and NSCN how they converted the Nagas in Eastern Nagaland into Christianity and established as many as 200 churches, it added.
At present Operation Salvage is taking care of around 70 inmates. David Perie, the Administrator, while narrating the past and present account of Operation Salvage said, “We need to work in close relationship with God to face the life’s challenge,” according to the release.
