Dimapur, Jan 16 (MExN): Noting NSCN-IM accusing the NSCN-K of being anti-people and opposed to Naga civil societies such as Naga Hoho, NPMHR, NSF etc., the latter organization maintains that it is not without ‘judicious judgment’ that the mentioned organizations’ credibility are questioned.
“It is not without judicious judgment that these organization’s credibility are questioned, in a conflict torn society like ours; civil societies and mass-based organizations are expected to play the role of mediation without leaning towards any particular conflicting groups so that wrongs done could be forgiven and wounds healed to make reconciliation and unity a reality” ‘Spokesman’ Isak Sumi and ‘UT-1 Supervisor’ Akato Chophi of the NSCN-K stated in a release.
More damage is done when these mediators are swayed by ‘agendas’ and interest of certain groups by antagonizing the other potential opponent in question and rather than bridging the gap more chasm is created, the NSCN-K pointed out.
“Is it justified to ignore the crimes of one group but persecute the same crimes of the other? Could justice be delivered without upholding truth and reality? Could there be peace, reconciliation and unity when there is no truth, justice, liberty and equality?” it queried while maintaining that the NSCN-K opposing Naga civil organizations’ role in conflict mediation is not without justification.
Besides numerous cases of biasness on the part of these frontal organizations, the release stated, an instance of another ‘act of unjustness is their intentional inactiveness’ to protest the NSCN-IM killing two Konyak youths at Kohima. A mass funeral was organized at Kohima initiated by civil organizations when a Tangkhul was killed by an unidentified gunman at Kohima and similarly when one Ahoto Assumi was earlier killed by NSCN-IM “there was not even a word of regret uttered by these Naga civil societies” the NSCN-K lamented.
Wondering if Konyaks and Sumis are ‘not worth botheration’ if they happen to be victims of the NSCN-IM, the release also queried if the assault on Rev. K Luruo, CBCC Secretary “not demeaning enough for these organizations to even spare a thought of concern”.
“Is assassination plot on former Sumi Hoho President by IK not worth a protest and condemnation? Whereas quit notice served to Tangkhul tribe has to be taken up in such a serious manner when the issue does in no way affect the normal functioning of these organs nor normal life of the Nagas?” it questioned demanding a justification if the organizations ever expressed the same concern for other Naga tribes falling victim to the rival faction.
