Oral and dental health awareness for YouthNet

Kohima, May 19 (MExN): Indian Dental Association (IDA), Nagaland State Branch members under Kohima district conducted a free corporate oral & dental health awareness camp in collaboration with YouthNet on May 19 at the latter’s main office in Kohima for the YouthNet staffs, families and trainees.  

The camp was conducted as a campaign and in celebration of the 10th North East Regional Dental Conference which is going to be held on November 29-30, 2017 in Kohima. The awareness was also part of the IDA nationwide initiatives to focus on corporate employees; the aim to create awareness among employees about good oral health and hygiene and to attain the goal of zero oral disease and tooth decay in the organisation, informed a press release from Dr. Vichovol Temi, Kohima district representative, IDA Nagaland State branch.  

Dr. Kholie Vupru shared that there are two categories of dental patients in Nagaland; one group comprises of those who are not aware of oral health and do not have access to avail dental treatment; and the other group is made up of those who are not aware but do have access to avail dental treatments.  

PowerPoint presentation was given by Dr. Pfukrolo Koza, President, IDANSB on Oral & Dental Health. He highlighted IDA recommendation for Preventive care; Oral Hygiene, Nutrition, Professional Cleaning, Preventive oral examinations, Caries Sealants and Varnish and Oral Cancer Screening. He maintained that the standard in dental treatment has improved over the years due to globalization where multinational dental companies are reaching out to the Nagaland dentists and they are also trained in various specialities now.  

During the dental check up and screening, it was observed that most are suffering from gums disease and dental caries. Free oral hygiene kit and medicines were also given.  

Earlier, Ebibeni Humtseo, HR YouthNet, who chaired the programme, welcomed the doctors.
