End violence against women and girls

Kohima, December 10 (MExN): To galvanize action to end violence against women, the Women Helpline 181 Nagaland, initiated to observe the ‘16 days of activism against gender-based violence,’ which began on November 25, i.e., International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and concluded on December 10, i.e., Human Rights Day.

A press release issued by Mission Director, Daisy Mezhür mentioned that the State Resource Centre for Women- Nagaland Chapter is the Nodal Agency for the implementation of the Women Helpline Scheme in the State.  

The Women Helpline 181 Nagaland observed the activism in two phases by organizing outreach and awareness activities throughout the State Capital. The 1st phase was based on the mission of Eliminating Violence against Women and the 2nd phase focused on Rights and Entitlements for Women.  

Joining the United Nations’ Campaign, ‘Orange the World,’ Women Helpline 181 Nagaland, along with the Sakhi-One Stop Centre Kohima team organized a programme at High School Junction, Kohima on the last day of the campaign.  

Orange balloons, each inscribed with messages to combat and end violence against women, were released in the air signifying the long urged plea to let our women live a life free from violence.
