
Western Sumi Students’ Union
The Western Sumi Students’ Union has extended its “fullest support” to Action Committee Against Unabated Tax (ACAUT) on “random illegal tax collection”. The union while acknowledging the initiative taken by various NGOs of Dimapur also appealed to all the right thinking Nagas to voice out their opinions, “as illegal taxation is becoming a cancer in our society which if not taken early corrective measures will lead to a breakdown of our social system and will derail our national cause.” Therefore the WSSU has urged upon all the Naga political parties to pay heed to the cries of the Nagas.
Tribal Union Chumukedima Town
Terming the Action Committee Against Unabated Tax’s (ACAUT) stand on ‘taxation’ as a positive step against eradication of “so-called taxes” upon the business community, the Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (TUCT) has extended its full support to ACAUT. The TUCT further asked all concerned to stop all forms of collections and donations in the name of various organizations in Nagaland as “we all know taxation is causing economic destabilization in Nagaland and the public are the ultimate victim of illegal taxes.” Therefore, the TUCT has appealed to all the right thinking citizens to raise their voices against illegal taxation.
Garo Students’ Union Nagaland Zone
The Garo Students Union Nagaland Zone has expressed it solidarity and support to the ACAUT. Expressing hope that the initiative taken by the civil societies spearheaded by the ACAUT, under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur would bring about much relief to the common people in general and the business community in particular, the President of GSUNZ Biplap K Sangma stated that every organization both social and political should understand the grievances of the common people. He also stated that as the premier students’ body of the Garos, the GSUNZ will continue to support the cause for which the ACAUT was formed. Further, he urged the people of every community irrespective of tribe, caste, and religion to give unflinching support to the ACAUT and its movement.
Poumai Hoho Nagaland
Poumai Hoho Nagaland (PHN) has issued a statement supporting ACAUT on the “taxation issue”. The statement by its President, C.D. John affirmed that the “heavy, illegal and forced tax” has burdened and bothered every citizen and it should be stopped immediately for the welfare and peaceful co-existence in the society. Meanwhile, PHN has extended its full support to Ao Senden and other organizations in regard to prevailing situation along Nagaland and Assam border that created “tension and fear psychosis” to the general public. The Hoho appealed to the state government for immediate intervention without further delay to defuse the situation and bring amicable solution for the welfare of everyone. The Hoho also extended its solidarity to the Nagas who have been affected by the ongoing Assam and Nagaland border imbroglio.
