Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): Various organizations have condemned the killing of a woman on the night of October 8 at Tenyiphe-I village. The Tenyiphe-I Women Organisation (TWO), while condemning the incident, asserted that such “ghastly act” perpetrated on a “helpless women cannot be tolerated.”
The 28-year-old victim of murder was found dead in her house in a pool of blood on Sunday, October 9. The Dimapur Police suspect she was murdered on the night of October 8 with a sharp weapon. She lived alone at her house at Tenyiephi I, E Khel, and ran a small grocery shop close by her home.
The TWO, in the press release from its President, Khrieseno, and Secretary, Ale, stated it will “never fail” to stand against “any form of brutality” against women and the weaker sections of the society, “especially when such crimes are committed within the jurisdiction of our village.” While appealing the investigating authorities to leave “no stone unturned till the case is brought to its logical conclusion and the culprit(s) brought to justice,” the organization assured to extend full co-operation to the authorities. Meanwhile, it also expressed condolences to the family of the victim, praying that Lord grants eternal rest to the departed soul and early solace to the grieving family.
In a separate press release from Western Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (WCMA) President, Bino Kenye, and General Secretary, Akhrole Venuh, the organisation stated that “such kind of act” has no place in the society and should be condemned by all. Extending its condolence to the bereaved family, the WCMA urged the law enforcing agency to expedite investigation and award befitting punishment to the accused so justice can be done at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Zhavame Union, Dimapur termed the murder as a “barbaric act,” appealing for the arrest of the accused at the earliest and justice to be served as per the law of the land.
It may be noted that the Dimapur Police had filed an FIR connected to the case on October 9 at the Diphupar Police Station under section 302 IPC (Murder) and the case is currently under investigation.
