Tening: Members of Tening Town Youth Organisation, Tening Town Women Welfare Organisation and Tening Town Students’ Union conducted surprise checking of all government offices located at Tening on April 14.
Tening Town Students’ Union President, Namsilung Pamai in a press release stated that it came as a rude shock to come across many offices locked during office hours. “Except for the Sub-Divisional Agri Officer (SDAO), none of the head of offices was found present,” the note stated.
It was noticed that attendance registers in some offices were not even maintained. During the surprise checking, only few staffs and peon/chowkidars were present. “The conditions of the offices were terrible with broken windows, doors, glass and torn ceilings, almost like that of an old abandoned haunted house.”
The three organizations, has reminded all officers and staffs posted at Tening to remain present in their offices during office hours and stop neglecting their jobs for which they are being paid for. “If anyone has any problem like finding suitable accommodation or other issues, they may contact these organizations to sort out the problems faced by them for which TTYO, TTWWO and TTSU will extend necessary help and support,” the note added.
Further, it stated that if any officers/staffs are found absent again in the next surprise checking, which will be conducted very soon, their names and designation will be published widely. These organizations will not hesitate further to initiate any action deemed fit and take up their case to the highest level for the consequences of which, the organizations will not be held responsible.
