DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 27 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi (N), Zeme Council (N), Liangmai Council (N) and the Old Beisumpui Village Council Peren have submitted a memorandum to the Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi expressing apprehension that “some negotiating party (ies)” involved in the ongoing Indo-Naga political negotiations “appear to be bargaining the Intangki National Park for the rehabilitation of their cadres post final agreement.”
The memorandum apprised the Governor of how the Intangki National Park came into being and said that the land belongs to Beisumpui Zeliang Village under Peren district, and is not the common property of the Nagas.
While expressing support to the rapid progress of talks in the Naga Peace Process, the memo however noted that the Zeliangrong public “shall never accept any agreement with negotiation party (ies) with a rider pertaining to Ntangki National Park and we shall not be a party to any agreement bartering away our ancestor land for the ease of negotiation at any stage.”
It meanwhile asserted that it is the bounden duty of the government to protect and preserve the only national park in Naga area “which is selflessly being protected and preserved for many years by means of assisting the Government of Nagaland by the Zeliangrong Tribe.”
