Orgs condemn assault and death of school boy

Dimapur, January 2: Dimapur Muslim Public Forum (DMPF) has vehemently condemned the assault and subsequent death of Akivito Sumi, a class 10 student of Christian Higher Secondary School. A press release issued by DMPF general secretary Mukibur Rahman stated that the victim was attacked by some unruly youth at Church Road on December 28, 2013. The DMPF expressed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. It also requested the district administration to arrest the culprits and book them as per the law.

WRSUN: Western Rengma Students’ Union Nagaland (WRSUN) has condemned in its strongest terms, the assault on Akivito Sumi in Dimapur, leading to his death on Monday. Stating that the incident occurred in a time when the whole of Nagas are facing disastrous situations in and around the State, WRSUN urged the administration and the authorities responsible to “not let the brutal murder of our brother be left in the background,” but investigate the matter and arrest all the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment. The Students union also urged the Naga civil societies to use their political, social and moral responsibility to bring justice to the departed. Further, it extended condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.    

DSSU:
Dimapur Sumi Students Union (DSSU) has expressed anger and resentment at the murder of its member Akivito Sumi, who succumbed to his head injuries after he was “mercilessly” beaten to coma by a mob, “without any wrongdoings.” DSSU in a press note stated it has taken serious view of the incident and it will leave no stone unturned to deliver justice to the victim and his family. The Union, meanwhile, urged the district administration to immediately arrest the culprits and award non-bailable warrant and befitting punishment. “That should be deterrent to all criminals in future and a lesson for all whether it be overground or underground,” it affirmed. DSSU further expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

STH, Dimapur: The Sumi Totomi Hoho (STH), Dimapur has condemned the brutal beating to death of Akivito Sumi by “some inhuman Nagas along with non locals of New Market.” Expressing sadness that many crimes take place inside New Market area, “under the patronage of some Naga paid masters,” the Hoho cautioned that in future, the “masters” should be held equally responsible for such acts. Further, STH prayed for God to give comfort to the family. STH, Dimapur also demanded justice and requested the district administration and law enforcing agencies to arrest the culprits at the earliest, book and punish them as per the provision of the law of the land.
