Yangli, April 20 (MExN): Oriental Theological College (OTC), Yangli held its 22nd commencement service on April 19. The commencement speaker, Dr Hutton, Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church underscored the techniques for fishing. It requires commitment and risk. In faith, the fishermen would throw their nets into the deep water, letting it sink into the lake out of sight, and hoping that the reward for their efforts would be a catch.

The same applies to the Christian mission, he said. The speaker challenged not to lose focus but to remain persistent in their call. The day ‘you stop fishing, you will start betraying Jesus.’  In conclusion, he reaffirmed that ‘we should turn from Bible believing church to Bible living church.’

Special guest on the occasion was Kyüpise Sangtam, Public Relations Officer to V Kashiho, Minister Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining NSMDC Ltd.. Delivering a greeting message, Kyüpise Sangtam encouraged the graduates to spread the gospel of love and remain faithful to the different challenges of the world.

Meanwhile, OTC Journal Vol.111 and College Annual Magazine were also released by the special guest. The journal that addresses the contextual issues on church and society is an annually published academic exercise.

Twenty students in Bachelor of Theology were conferred their degrees in the presence of well wishers and family. The commencement speaker blessed the graduates by administering the act of dedication.

The programme began with an invocation offered by Tsaose, Development Secretary USBLA, Yangli, followed by introduction and welcome address from the Chairman OTC Board of Directors, Er Alongse Sangtam. The college authority thanked the commencement speaker, sponsors of the college awards, Churches, families, well-wishers and friends for making the program a success.
