Orientation of MAS on RI held in Mokokchung

A one day orientation of Mahila Aroghya Samiti (MAS) on Routine Immunization was held at CMO conference hall, Mokokchung on August 23.

MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 25 (MExN): A one day orientation of Mahila Aroghya Samiti (MAS) on Routine Immunization was held at the CMO conference hall, Mokokchung on August 23. 

The orientation was organized to update and re-enforce the skills of MAS members, to enhance immunization coverage and ensure that every child receives the necessary vaccinations, a press release informed. 

During his welcome speech Dr Kibangkumba, Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung called upon the MAS members to actively participate in all health related activities and encouraged them to mobilize  community for access to health care services. 

Rose, Communication Officer, John Snow India said Mahila Arogya Samiti is a community intervention under National Urban Health Mission to promote community participation in health activities and to support and facilitate families in availing health services. It aims to addresses local issues related to health, immunization, nutrition, water, sanitation and social determinants of health.

She also spoke on the role of MAS in Routine Immunization awareness generation and demand generation.

Dr Mhechekhro Mero, RRT (WHO) gave a power point presentation on Routine Immunization Micro Planning, National Immunization Schedule, MCP card and post vaccination care.

Dr Redina, MO, UPHC Mokokchung discussed on role of MAS in non–immunization health services like promotion of safe motherhood, breastfeeding, family planning measures and non communicable diseases. The training was attended by MAS members of Mokokchung urban area.
