WOKHA, SEPTEMBER 4 (MExN): An orientation on Kilkari (mHealth services for better maternal and child health outcomes) for health workers was held at the Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s office, Wokha, on September 4.

The session was chaired by Mhonbeni Ezung, District Programme Manager (NHM), who welcomed the participants and encouraged health workers to coordinate and work towards making the digital initiative a success.

Dr Thungchanbemo Ezung, Chief Medical Officer, Wokha, briefly introduced Kilkari, stating that it was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 2016 as a free digital service to improve maternal and child health. He expressed gratitude to the resource person for facilitating the orientation for health workers in the district.

Resource person Shanpanthung Ezung, State Programme Coordinator, KMA, ARMMAN, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi, explained that Kilkari uses Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology to deliver time-sensitive audio messages on reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) directly to beneficiaries.

He informed that once a beneficiary is registered in the Reproductive Child Health portal, the data is shared with the application and weekly calls or messages are delivered accordingly. He added that awareness campaigns would play a vital role in expanding the programme’s reach and that block-level orientations in the district will continue till September 12.

The programme was attended by medical officers, block programme managers, district community mobiliser, staff nurses, consultant UPHC, data manager (IDSP) and DPMU staff.
