
Peren District Disable Peoples’ Organization launched on WDD 2016
Peren, December 4 (MExN): District Welfare Office, Nokcharenla Longchar on the occasion of World Disability Day observed in Peren district, expressed surprise that when over 140 differently able-children were in various schools, only 2 persons were getting student scholarships.
Gracing the function held at Jalukie Town Hall on December 3, Longchar explained the various Government schemes and benefits for the differently able persons. She also assured to do everything from her part for the differently able-persons in the district.
A press release issued by PNF Chairman Joe Ngamkhuchung informed that over 120 Persons with Disabilities, accompanied by their parents attended the function. The day started with games for the PWDs, which saw enthusiastic participation from the young and the old PWDs. Fr. Anthony of Jalukie St. Xavier’s Church opened the games with a brief talk followed by prayer.
CO 36 Assam Rifles at Jalukie, under Col. Ranbir Singh Dhingra, fully supported the World Disability Day programme and set up a colorful tea stall and provided snacks to all the participants numbering over 120. Col. Ranbir Singh Dhingra, in his brief address said it was the first acquaintance with PWDs and promised full support for any future programmes if informed in advance. Col Ranbir Singh gave away the prizes for the games.
Denis Elung, a public leader, NGO Adviser at Jalukie and an important member of Concern Citizens Forum of Peren District, gave an inspiring talk and called the PWDs “people loved by God” and said, “We cannot understand God’s plan and wisdom but what he plans is best for us.” He encouraged the PWDs to have faith and confidence in God’s providence and advised Parents for a good care of the children with disabilities. He gave a cash donation of ten thousand rupees from the forum members.
On 2015 World Disability Day, Disable-peoples’ Parents Association (DIPPA) was launched. The President of the Association took a brief moment to talk about the organization.
The landmark of the 2016 WDD was the launching of the Peren District DPO (Disable Peoples’ Organization). The members prefer to name their Organization as “Differently Able People’s Organization (DAPO) Peren. The Chairman of the Organization, which manages a child development project under Lilianna Foundation in Jalukie, delivered the vote of thanks.
