Outreach workshop on PM-NAPS held in Dimapur

Dimapur, February 11 (MExN): A one-day awareness and outreach workshop on the Prime Minister National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme ((PM-NAPS) was conducted at Hotel Europa Inn, Dimapur on February 11.

It was organised by Regional Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (RDSDE), Assam, under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India in collaboration with Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDCI).

The workshop aimed to strengthen the linkage between vocational training institutions and industry establishments by promoting apprenticeship as a structured pathway to employment. More than 100 participants attended the program, including trainees and instructors from Government ITI Dimapur, officials from the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (DoESDE), NSDC, MSME Tool Room, and representatives from various government departments and private industry establishments.

Resource persons from MSDE ecosystem and sector skill bodies delivered technical and awareness sessions on PM-NAPS, covering key features such as employer incentives, stipend support, online registration processes, contract generation, compliance requirements, and benefits of engaging apprentices. The sessions emphasized that apprenticeship enables industries to build a skilled workforce while supporting youth with hands-on industry exposure and nationally recognized certification.

A key highlight of the workshop was the announcement of a special intervention for the North Eastern Region, under which apprentices from the region undergoing apprenticeship training—within or outside the North East—will receive Rs 3,000 as partial stipend support through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under PM-NAPS.

The workshop featured a distinguished panel of resource persons who shared practical insights into the evolving landscape of industrial training:

The resource persons included; Alongse Sangtam, Joint Director, Directorate of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of Nagaland, Rohan R Patil, Deputy Director, RDSDE Assam, Pravin Bhaskar Yadav, SEC-Nagaland, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Pinaki Sankar Deb, Sr Manager, Construction Skill Development Council of India( CSDCI) and Netenba Ajem, Principal Govt women ITI, Chümoukedima.

During the event, Kamaiah Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland, to facilitate and implement the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) across the state. As per the plan, four PMNAMs will be organized every month in different districts to connect local youth with apprenticeship and employment opportunities.

The workshop concluded with a strong call to industries and training institutions to register under PM-NAPS and actively engage in apprenticeship promotion to accelerate skill-based employment in Nagaland.
