“Every since its inception, there has been tangible results indicating a marked improvement especially in school enrolment,” the report stated.

This scheme is being implemented in the state by the Department of School Education since 1995 with active participation from the Village Education Committees (VECs), some Self Help Groups and various other stakeholders.

The programme has been extended to all Education Guarantee Scheme and Alternative and Innovation Education (AIE) centres established under SSA scheme in the state, the report stated.

Recently, the government issued a notice for all schools to put up posters in their school premises showcasing the details of food grains and cooking costs of meals under the scheme. The posters will also include a helpline number (6009256788) to which public can send complaints through SMS/WhatsApp if they come across any misuse of the scheme.
