VWF in collaboration with Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, organised a free health check-up camp at NECU campus in Burma Camp, Dimapur on August 9.
Dimapur, August 12 (MExN): The Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (VWF), in collaboration with Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, organised a free health check-up camp on August 9 at the North East Christian University (NECU) campus in Burma Camp, Dimapur.
Supported by NECU, the camp aimed to promote preventive healthcare and community outreach. More than 210 patients—including NECU nursing students and local residents from the surrounding Burma Camp area—registered and received free medical services.
The camp provided various screening and diagnostic services, including consultations with an MD specialist, blood pressure checks, random blood sugar testing, ECGs, Bone Mineral Density (BMD) testing, and Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT). Free medicines were also distributed to all attending patients.
The visiting medical team from Medanta was led by Dr Rupak Das (MBBS, MD) and included nurses Suzy Hazel Pyngrope, Darika, and Monica, along with three medical technicians, who conducted health assessments and diagnostic tests throughout the day.
The event saw active support from NECU volunteers, who managed registration, patient movement, and coordination. Volunteers from PRATIBHA, the free educational wing of VWF, also assisted in managing community members and supporting the medical staff.
Dr. C. K. Senthil of NECU, alongside university staff, assisted in facilitating campus infrastructure, volunteer coordination, and operational support.
VWF arranged drinking water and tea for attending patients and community members, as well as refreshments for volunteers and lunch for the visiting medical personnel and guests.
Expressing his appreciation, Niranjan Saha, Founder and Director of the Vivekananda Welfare Foundation, thanked the Medanta team for their professional service and time. He also acknowledged the NECU management, Dr. C. K. Senthil, and the student volunteers from both NECU and PRATIBHA for their coordination.
Saha stated that such health camps are central to VWF's mission of bringing preventive healthcare and welfare services directly to communities. Reaffirming the foundation's core philosophy—"Service to Man is Service to God"—he added that VWF will continue its initiatives across healthcare, education, and community development.
