Over Rs 22 lakhs worth of liquor destroyed in Dimapur

Over 20 lakhs worth of IMFL was destroyed in two separate drives in Dimapur on May 19. 


In the morning the Khaghaboto Youth Front (KYF) and the Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) destroyed seized IMFL costing around Rs 2.70 lakh approximately at the local market, Phishikhu village, Dimapur on May 19.


The KYF on Tuesday morning intercepted a vehicle coming from Bokajan side and seized 28 cases of MC Rum in Phishikhu village.


WSYF President, Mughavi Awomi lauded the KYF for remaining vigilant and thwarting anti-social elements. KYF President, Kivito said the people of Khaghaboto area were taking additional preventive measures in relation to COVID-19 since the area borders Assam with no check gates.


WSYF vice president and general secretary also spoke at the site. Phishikhu village GB, Atoshe Wotsa was also present at the destruction site.


In the evening, the Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) also destroyed Rs. 20 lakhs worth of IMF. The seized items were intercepted in two bolero pick-up on May 18, midnight, from New filed check gate, Lahorijan.


 The seized items were destroyed in the presence of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) administrator, Naga Women Hoho (NWH), Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) and Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) officials.
Meanwhile DNSU officials questioned the concerned authority on how inflow of alcohol has been taking place during the lockdown period.
