There is still an overall shortage of 101 Sub-Centres in the Nagaland and villages in remote areas are still not adequately covered, the State Health Minister informed today.
Replying to a starred question raised by MLA, CL John on the status of sanctioned strength of all the health units, the Minister in-charge of Health & Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom informed the Nagaland Legislative Assembly that there are 25 Community Health Centres (CHC), 138 Primary Health Centres (PHC), 1 Subsidiary Health Centre (SHC), 2 Big Dispensary (BD) and 559 Sub Centres (SC) in the rural areas in order to ensure and provide the best medical care system in Nagaland.
However, he pointed out that Indian health standard specified the norms of requirement of health units based as per the requirement and added that 1 SC unit for every 3000 population, 1 PHC for every 20,000 population. Villages in remote are still not adequately covered as there is still overall shortage of 101 SCs in the state, he added.
The Minister also highlighted that the Department under National Health Mission has expanded the network of health units and pointed out that since 2012 till date, the number of CHCs was increased from 21 to 25, PHC from 126 to 138 and SC from 396 to 559.
Replying to the another starred question on the total number of doctors under the Department raised by MLA Yitachu, Pangnyu informed there are 115 doctors posted in the PHCs.
He stated that there is no sanctioned post of doctors in 23 PHCs and the Department has created numerous posts to make 100% posting of doctors in rural areas.
Pangyu said that the Department has formed the roster posting policy in order to ensure posting of doctors in all the remote areas, and in order to fill the posting gaps NHM (National Health Mission) has provided 9 specialists, 77 GDMOs, 37 Ayush MOs and 18 Dental Surgeons.
60 CDPOs in state
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio informed that Assembly that while there are 60 CDPOs, at present there are 47 due to retirement & promotion.
He was replying to a question raised by MLA Y. Vikheho Swu about the details on the total number of CDPO under Social Welfare Department in District wise with names of all the children, old age persons and handicapped per block.
As per the information furnished, the number of Children in the age group 0-6 year are 3, 64,867. 57,400 persons are getting Old age pension while there are 4464 under widow pension.
Scholarships to handicapped are 201; totally blind persons are 1625; Infirmed invalid person is 3276.
