Overseas ticketing counter opens at Guwahati Railway Station

Guwahati, October 7 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has started operating an overseas ticketing counter at Guwahati Railway Station near the existing booking office.

The overseas ticket counter will facilitate those travelling by 13131/13132 (New Jalpaiguri – Dhaka – New Jalpaiguri) and will remain open on all working days from 8AM-8PM, an official release informed. 

It will benefit travellers like tourist, traders etc of Assam and its adjacent states like Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, it said. 

Earlier tickets for the Mitali express could be purchased only from Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri stations.

The Mitali Express train connecting India-Bangladesh was flagged off on June 1, 2022 and runs twice a week.

It leaves the New Jalpaiguri station at 11:45 AM (IST) on every Sunday and Wednesday to reach Dhaka Cantonment at 10:30 PM (BST). 

In return direction, it runs two days a week on Monday and Thursday leaving Dhaka Cantonment at 9:50 PM (BST) to reach New Jalpaiguri at 07:15 AM (IST) on Tuesday and Friday respectively. 

The overseas counter in Guwahati has been in operation since September 27 and GST @5% will have to be paid in addition to fare.

The exchange price of US $ will be taken as per the existing rate on the very first day of the month of journey. For booking of tickets passengers are requested to carry valid passport and visa, the release added.
