Dimapur, October 27 (MExN): P. Vizheto FC emerged as champions of the 1st edition of the Dimapur Football League (DFL) and walked home with the cash prize money of Rs 1, 50, 000 and a citation.
P Vizheto FC, leading with the highest points, also, donated Rs 50, 000 to the organizers, Naga United FC at the DDSC stadium, Dimapur on October 27.
The runners up, FC Alianza walked away with cash prize money of Rs 70, 000 and a citation.
The Best Disciplined Club went to Chanan FC, stated a press release from Media & Publicity Cell, DFL.
Speaking on the occasion, the special invite Dr Sukhato A Sema, retired Principal Director, Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland encouraged the players to take chance of every opportunity and strive towards excellence and bring laurels to the society and the nation.
“In everything you do, give your best and put your faith in God who will take care of all your needs,” Dr Sukhato added. He later gave away the prizes to the winning clubs and individual winners.
The DFL Convenor, Shiyeto Wotsa in his concluding remarks acknowledged the special invitees of both the inaugural and closing ceremonies, all the match patrons, DDFA, DDFRA, advisors, donors, various business associations of Dimapur, volunteers and all those who extended their support and cooperation towards successful completion of the DFL.
The first edition of DFL, which kicked off on September 14, saw the participation of 240 players from 8 clubs. A total of 75 goals were scored during the intervening matches, played every Friday and Saturday.
Earlier, the last day’s match played between Ekhyo FC and Dorian’s FC ended in a 2-2 draw.
All the participating clubs were given citations.
Meanwhile, the entry ticket for the closing ceremony which was converted into a lucky draw could not be held due to some uncertain turn of events, the organizers informed. The date of draw will be notified in the newspaper and the result will also be published.
