DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 13 (MExN): The Public Action Committee (PAC), Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has opposed the hike on the entry tax by the Dimapur Municipal Council for twelve wheeled vehicles (70 MT) from Rs 450 to Rs 3500, which it stated is more than 7 times the previous entry tax.
The increase in the entry tax has been imposed since the introduction of the DMC Tolls & Urban Utility fees 2018-19 from October 1 onwards.
The PAC–NCD in a press release maintained that with ‘One Nation, One Tax’ GST in place, another tax under the guise of toll fee cannot be imposed per commodity by a particular state.
It has therefore asked the Municipal Affairs department to immediately cancel the new order and maintain status quo on toll fees, in the interest of the general welfare of the public.
Meanwhile, the NCD has convened a meeting of various organization leaders on October 22, 2018 on the multiple taxation issue from various quarters which have been affecting the public tremendously.
