DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 26 (MExN): The Public Action Committee (PAC) under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) will hold the proposed mass public rally on October 31, 2018 at Khermahal Junction, Dimapur from 10am onwards.
The public rally is to voice out against rampant multiple taxation, syndicate and lease systems operating in and around Dimapur district by various unions/organisations including Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and state government agencies on goods and services, transporters, entry fees on vehicles, item wise taxes on goods, dealers, stockiest, whole sellers down to the retailers.
PAC –NCD in a press release said this has led to uncontrolled inflation in all prices in the market thus affecting the business community, consumers and general public of the district as well as the whole State.
Also pointing out that the unfortunate existence of parallel governments running the affairs of the day has crippled and threatened the very survival of the citizens, the PAC-NCD said the consumer/ general public can no longer afford to remain silent spectator and keep paying.
It therefore mentioned that the general public is left with no option but to voice out in unison to give a clear message for bringing about corrective measures at earliest. Towards this, the PAC-NCD has appealed every citizen, tribal hoho, civil society/organization, churches within Dimapur district to come out and be a part of the public rally. Members are requested to come in traditional attire.
Meanwhile, PAC-NCD also informed all president and secretaries of the 19 tribal Hohos under NCD, non-Naga communities, DCCI officials and heads of educational institutions to attend a meeting at 1 am on October 27 at the Naga Council Office.
