PACSU alleges anomalies in electoral roll

Kiphire, July 16 (MExN): Pungro Area College Students’ Union (PACSU) in an open letter to Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland has highlighted certain anomalies in electoral roll of 60 Pungro-Kiphire A/C.

PACSU President Achung Jangleh and General Secretary Rasuka Jacob S in the open letter brought to light that there are certain anomalies in the village-wise electorate inclusion under the assembly constituency (A/C). It mentioned that seven villages, namely Tikenvong, Singrep, Langkok, Phelungre, Litsaoung, Tutheze and Anatongre have total voters exceeding their total population.

The union also mentioned that percentage of total voters against the total population of Kiphire Sadar is 94%. “Conversely, the election office at Kiphire has been clandestinely toting up electorates over the past years,” it alleged.

“In the light of the mentioned facts, it is regretted that the noble initiative of Election Commission of India to eliminate bogus voters by campaigning in the form of NERPAP is a mockery,” PACSU stated, while requesting the authority concerned to look into the matter so that the mandate of the genuine voters is represented without nepotism during election.
