Dimapur, March 11 (MExN): A total of 81 students from six different schools today participated in a painting competition held under the theme “Incredible Nagaland – The Land of Festivals" at the premises of Loyola School, Jakhama.
The competition was organised by 44 Mountain Brigade under the aegis of the Red Shield Mountain Division, PRO (Defence), Col C Konwer informed in a press note.
The students competed in three different categories, namely primary, middle and secondary schools levels and prizes were awarded to the first three winners and two consolation prizes in each category, it said.
Loyola School was adjudged the best school and was awarded the trophy for overall best performance, it added.
Judges for the event included Dr. Dnyandev Borole, M.Sc., PhD, an eminent scientist from National Institute of Oceanography, Goa; Dr. Devyani Borole, the second woman from the country to go to Antarctica as the Medical Officer for the Indian research team to the continent at Maitree Station completing a tenure as Polar Woman; and Father Victor, Principal Loyola School.
The Officiating Commander of the 44 Mountain Brigade was the chief guest at the event, the press note informed.
