KOHIMA, October 2 (MExN): A one day painting workshop and competition was organised by the Department of Art & Culture, Nagaland, on the theme, ‘Seva Parv - Vision of Viksit Bharat’ at the State Academy of Music & Dance Kohima on September 30.

Speaking on the occasion as special guest, Vilalhou Noudi, an artist and recipient of the Governor’s Award for excellence in the field of Arts (2012), said that God created man with the ability to imagine, which is a powerful tool for creativity, and with this unique gift, only human beings have the ability create something beautiful out of nothing.

During the event, Temjenjungla Aier, Asst. Archivist gave the introductory Remarks while Adela Moa, Director, Art & Culture Department Nagaland announced the list of winners and distributed the prizes. 

Jongpen Pongen of Jo Foundation Inclusive School bagged the first prize and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10000 while Bautuk S. Phom of Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School and Yohulu Medeo of Fernwood School were declared second and third respectively. They received a cash prize of Rs 5000 and Rs 2500.

Three consolation prizes of Rs 1000 each were awarded to Wangoi Büchem of Stella Higher Secondary School, Sangke Mansha of Mezhür Higher Secondary School and Medole of Fernwood School.

Altogether, eighty seven students from 9 Schools participated in the programme. With the art materials provided, the students produced vibrant creative images of their understanding and hope of a ‘Developed India by 2047’.
