
Dimapur, April 28 (MExN): Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation, Railways, Land Resources P Paiwang Konyak called on the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, New Delhi. Paiwang requested the Union Minister for one time special package of Rs. 30 crore for development of coffee in the State in 3 years (10 crore per year) for setting up of nurseries, maintenance of plantation to wean away farmers from jhuming, establishment of infrastructure such as water harvesting structures, training and exposure visits.
The Union Minister agreed to the proposal and assured to sanction the package in the current financial year to promote coffee plantation in Nagaland, according to a press release from Kuolie Mere, PRO (IPR), Nagaland House, New Delhi.
