Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): Panchayat Day (Gram Sabha) was observed at Seluophe village under RD Block, Chumukedima on October 2. Amit Srivastava, National Level Monitor from the Ministry of Rural Development, officials of District Rural Development Agency, Dimapur led by its Project Director, Alemla J. Chishi, officials of RD Block Chumukedima and village functionaries attended the programme.
Amit Srivastava, who also inspected various ongoing and completed projects under MGNREGA in the village, expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the schemes and said it was evident that developmental activities under MGNREGA are taking place in the district, informed a press release received here. He assured that the department is there to help the villagers to bring more development to villages.
In her keynote address, Alemla J. Chishi spoke about the significance of the Panchayat Day besides highlighting the developmental changes that have taken place in the rural areas with the inception of MGNREGA in the country. Reminding villagers that they have so many privileges, Alemla urged them to work for all round development of the village and let the village be an example for other villages to follow. Discussion on programme implementation under MGNREGA was also held with the villagers during the day. K. Yamao Konyak, Block Development Officer, RD Block Chumukedima chaired the programme.
