Panchayati Raj Day at Langmeng

Mon, April 27 (MExN): Village level celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day along with commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar was observed at Langmeng village under Aboi Block in Mon district on April 24.   Block Development Officer (BDO) of Aboi, Manpho Shahkailem presented a brief speech on the life of Dr. BR Ambedkar. He recalled Dr. Ambedkar as the architect of the Constitution of India, a press release received here informed. His hard work in drafting of the Constitution made it a powerful tool for social and economic empowerment of the downtrodden and other socially backward classes, he said, adding Dr. Ambedkar was a saviour of the oppressed, women and poor and fought for them throughout his life.   The BDO also deliberated on the significance of April 24 (The 73rd Amendment of the Constitution of India, Panchayati Raj). He further briefed on the activities, aims & objectives, and entitlements of MGNREGA and IAY.

  CDPO Aboi, Wango Konyak presented talk on SNP/NSAP followed by a talk on Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) by WATSAN Committee of Langmeng.   The Chief Angh of Langmeng, Shakwang Konyak also participated in the event by delivering a short speech.   The program was attended by Government employees, village council members, senior citizens, women organization, student leaders, youths, church leaders and NGOs of the village.   VDB Secretary of the village chaired the celebration, while pastor of Lagmeng Baptist Church, Wangtin Konyak said the invocation prayer.
