Panel conversation on future opportunities

KOHIMA, MARCH 22 (MExN): A panel discussion for students on future opportunities was organised by the Global Shapers Kohima Hub in collaboration with the Kohima District Administration at St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama. It was held under the aegis of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign at the college indoor stadium on March 22. 

Moasunep K Jingru, Extra Assistant Commissioner and Nodal Officer of Mission Shakti delivered the keynote address. As per a press release, the EAC highlighted the essence and objective of the Beti Bachao Beti, Padhao Scheme. The scheme was initiated in 2015 to address gender discrimination and empowering the girl child. He urged the students to explore the unknown sector through the panel discussion.

In the panel were Dr Avinuo Kire, Dr Levino Yhoshü, Sophy Lasuh and Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo. The discussion was moderated by Ruopfuzhano Whiso.  

The release summarised the discussion this way: Dr Levino Yhoshü, Dean of Research and Development, Alder College, addressed her research on women and contemporary Naga society and the significance of researching as an insider. She shared how much value our culture has to offer to the outside world. 

Sophy Lasuh, working in the film and textile industries, dwelled on the textiles and its pertinence in recent times and the employment potential in stinging nettles. 

Dr Avino Kire, a teacher, writer and author, motivated the students on the broad prospects the realm of writing has to offer, while stating, “We are a product of what we read.” 

Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo, a model, entrepreneur and co-proprietor of Cache Naga shared her experience in the fashion industry and the immense opportunities it holds.
